Capital Compactors and Balers (CCL), part of the Impact Environmental Group (IEG), has launched to market the i-Series, its next-generation machines, incorporating state-of-the-art technology for vastly enhanced operational and environmental benefits.
The i-Series, will supersede previous compactors and balers manufactured by CCL as the sector leader, allowing critical information from each asset to be shared via a bespoke monitoring platform to CCL’s service engineers.
The i-Series introduces a 25% improvement on energy performance compared to standard compaction machinery; due to improved hydraulic performance and engineering efficiency, a 5.5kW motor is able to be used rather than a 7.5kW for the same amount of compaction power. This allows for a 16A connection rather than a 32A, so, less electrical materials and less electrical capacity needed on site.
Through clever hydraulic engineering and with the use of “re-gen” valves, oil is recirculated around the system twice without going through the pump again to move the blade quicker when it is not compacting to contribute to a faster cycle time whilst using less electrical energy.
The new machines can also run economy strokes. This means the blade only travels ~75% of the whole stroke length to pack the material into the container until enough material is inside the machine to start to compact it. This results in less motor run time and less electricity used.
i-Series machines have ‘smart brains’ which CCL’s in-house engineers are able to monitor remotely from the service centres and can connect their laptop to for full data statistics and diagnostics during service visits. This allows for faster diagnostics and adjustments if ever required.
These smart brains allow for more dynamic control of the machine, and larger possibility for adjustments to things like fullness levels, bin lifter weight capacities, press cycle strokes.
The most powerful advantage however, comes from the i-Series ability to operate as part of an Internet of Things (IoT) platform. By the machine being connected to the IoT via 4g, CCL clients can access live information to include, but not limited to, diagnostics showing faults such as ‘E-Stop Pressed In’, as well as key indicators such as the current ‘fullness’ level, amount of press cycles and number of running hours.
The i-Series offers CCL and its clients the ability to log onto the machine online from anywhere in the world, so customers can be kept abreast of any potential issues and
CCL engineers can review the machine’s diagnostics before they reach the site.
Due to the smaller motor and refined hydraulics, the i-Series compactors and balers are quieter than predecessors, thanks to soft acceleration and deacceleration technology. The quieter powerpack and quieter bin lifter mechanics result in a quieter machine overall.
Daniel Parsons, Managing Director at CCL explains: “The launch of the i-Series represents a significant step-change for CCL and our customers. Our clients will see significant environmental and operational benefits as faults are diagnosed remotely, as opposed to on-site call outs, a much quicker response time and therefore equipment downtime for our customers and we are further supporting this with a commitment to same day despatch. Moreover, the cost savings to come from the reduced electricity usage will also be considerable.
“There is a great deal of interest from our customers and we are anticipating a significant level of early orders.”
Pete Dickson, Commercial Director of IEG, parent company of CCL states: “The launch of the i-Series represents a significant investment for the group and one which we believe will offer inordinate benefits to all of our customers. We are very much looking forward to the feedback from CCL’s customer base.”
Compactors and Balers is the UK’s leading manufacturer of waste and recycling compactors and balers. Founded in 2000, the company provides and services waste compactors and recycling balers that waste operators and end-users acquire through rental contracts, as well as upfront equipment purchases.
Custom-made in its purpose-built factory in Barnsley, the compactors and balers are constructed using high-grade materials, boosting longevity and helping reduce downtime.
Capital Compactors and Balers is part of the Impact Environmental Group (IEG), a global environmental products and services business, providing a comprehensive suite of new and replacement products for waste and recycling containers, collection and compaction equipment, and waste transportation equipment. IEG EMEA’s brands include Duraflex™, Taylor, UKCM and Capital Compactors.
