A WEDDING photographer is continuing to win over hearts after gaining international recognition.
Stacey Oliver’s creative imagery has seen her get 2024 off to a flying start after seeing her work shortlisted for prestigious awards not once, but twice.
Stacey was not only whittled down from 13,000 worldwide entrants to make the top five of the The Guild of Photographers Image of the Month Competition, she was also highly commended in the 6th Welsh Wedding Awards recently.
No stranger to a glitzy ceremony, Stacey already has a haul of accolades under her belt. But the former press photographer from Sealand, Flintshire is always humbled when her stunning work is recognised.
Her attention to detail and imaginative approach is what caught the judge’s attention and helped her to stand out from the rest.
Stacey said: ” I was thrilled especially being up against other very talented photographers.
She added: “Being a part of a couple’s big day is an absolute privilege and it’s an honour to capture heartwarming moments and immortalise life-long memories.
“To be recognised for doing what is my passion really is the icing on the cake.”
Stacey’s captivating images have long gained admiration – one even made international news when she snapped the moment a ring-bearing owl swooped down on a terrified best man after it flew down the altar towards the groom.
As a Guild of Photographers member, she’s also previously been listed in their top 10 wedding photographers in the UK. Each image is scored and the scores from the year are tallied up to determine who wins one of the Guild’s top 10 Photographer Awards. This year, Stacey made the top five.
The Guild is a highly respected UK based association for photographers which also has members from overseas.
Guild Directors Steve and Lesley Thirsk said: “We are both proud and delighted that Stacey has achieved this recognition after 10 months of submitting the highest quality images. The Guild has very demanding standards when judging photographic competitions. The judging is undertaken by a panel of internationally recognised experts from a variety of photography backgrounds so Stacey quite rightly should be delighted with her extraordinary achievement.”
Stacey was also highly commended at the 6th Welsh Wedding Awards 2024 in Cardiff, which celebrates elite wedding specialists and businesses that continuously create magical moments that turn into lasting memories.
An awards spokesperson said: “We’re glad to have the opportunity to celebrate the continued development of the wedding industry. The competition was tough this year but it is time to acknowledge everyone who has shown dedication and professionalism in their workplace – two key features that make individuals and businesses stand out from the rest.
“We congratulate all the finalists for their remarkable achievements.”
