Protecting and supporting your staff’s mental health: a line manager’s guide is the latest resource produced by the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust to support mental health during the Coronavirus outbreak.
The guide is designed to provide practical advice on how line managers can protect staff mental health by listening, helping in terms of reasonable adjustments, and where appropriate, signposting. Key issues such as compassionate leadership, delivering unwelcome news, managing staff working from home and managing staff who have been furloughed are all covered in the resource.
It includes a series of quick tips which cover a range of subjects from talking about the Coronavirus, encouraging a work/life balance and providing digital information on wellbeing.
Clare Stafford, CEO of the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust, said: “During these uncertain times it is more important than ever that all employers pay particular attention to protecting the mental health of their employees. You don’t need to be an expert, but by following some very simple guidelines you could provide much-needed support to a colleague who might be struggling.”
