Tips for fighting gender inequality – by female bosses

While there have been giant strides in gender equality in recent years, there is still plenty of room for growth in terms of equal pay, respect and advancement of women in the workforce. No matter the field, women are constantly forced to deal with gender biases including labeling and expected behavior. And since these biases can vary from person to person, it makes it almost impossible for women to gauge how to respond in a variety of workplace situations. And outside of these biases, women also make less than their male counterparts, are promoted less often and have to field a variety of uncomfortable sexual advancements or comments from uneducated coworkers.

To help bring awareness to all the facets of gender inequality taking place in the modern-day office, Fundera took a deep dive into the current state of gender inequality in the workplace and provided inspiration to those women looking to climb the corporate ladder, as well as tips employers can implement to make their office a more equal and inviting environment. For example, did you know that only 38% of women hold manager-level positions, compared to 62% of men? Or that 27% of women experience sexual harassment at work, but an even smaller percentage report it for fear of not being believed or getting fired?

And while there are changes that still need to be made to help women succeed in their current roles, all hope is not lost. Fundera also rounded up a list of women at the top of their field. From fashion designers and supreme court justices, to tech gurus and financial officers, these women have learned a thing or two about what it means to be a woman climbing the corporate ladder. Their quotes and the lessons we can learn from them can help inspire women to stand up for what they know is right, and encourage employers to make systematic changes to help bring in more diversity across the board. Take a look at the infographic below and get inspired before Equal Pay Day begins on August 26th.
