Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool for a huge £142million back in January 2018, with the Catalan giants expecting big things from the Brazil international. However, the 26-year-old has endured a nightmare spell in Spain so far. Talk has been rife that Coutinho could join Manchester United at the end of the campaign amid Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hunt for attacking stardust. Chelsea have also been mentioned as potential suitors – though they have failed in their bid to overturn their transfer ban. Coutinho toiled as Barcelona saw their Champions League dream ended by a ruthless Liverpool side on Tuesday night. The Reds went into the game 3-0 down from the first leg. But braces from Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum saw Liverpool through to a second Champions League final in as many years. And Marca say that, in the wake of their European exit, Barcelona are confident of selling Coutinho. They supposedly feel they can get a big fee for the Samba star. And Marca claim Barcelona are also ready to take a hit on Coutinho if it means getting him off the books.  Atletico Madrid hitman Antoine Griezmann may head to the Nou Camp as his replacement. But what happens next remains to be seen. Meanwhile, pundit Danny Mills believes Coutinho could be perfect for Tottenham should Spurs lose Christian Eriksen this summer. Eriksen has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and has just a year left on his current contract. And Mills said: “He’s not irreplaceable.  “There are good players out there who could replace him – Coutinho is one, Spurs can get him perhaps – but it’s going to cost you an awful lot of money. “With a year left, we know how frugal Daniel Levy is, you know, is he prepared to wait and let him go for nothing at the end of the following season? “Unlikely, so they either need to nail him down and get this contract done and dusted – you’ve got to be loyal to the players who have been loyal to you. “Or, he leaves for a minimal fee, at that. Eriksen is a quality player, he’s the one, he makes Tottenham tick at times, he dictates the tempo of the play – set pieces, delivery, assists, goal scoring, all those type of things. “He would be very difficult to replace, he’s not irreplaceable, but it’s going to cost you a lot of money to do it.”

  1. We don’t want him back. We want loyalty from our players. He thought he was too good for Liverpool. But he has been found out. Let him go to a crap club, like Spurs.
